Pasco County Transportation

Whether you are transporting goods domestically or internationally, Pasco County offers a variety of convenient and efficient distribution methods by land, sea, or air. Highways 19, 41, 301, Interstate 75, and the Suncoast Parkway all provide excellent north-south access. State Roads 52 and 54 provide east-west access. CSX provides rail service in Central and East Pasco. South of Pasco, Tampa International Airport (TIA) is conveniently located just 30 minutes from most areas of Pasco. Pasco County has the Zephyrhills Municipal Airport with a 5,067-foot runway in the eastern portion of the county. There are also several small, privately operated airports in the County. The Port of Tampa, 12th largest in the nation, can be accessed directly from the Suncoast Parkway (Toll589) and Interstate 75.

Transportation improvement projects with the greatest impact to the County, include:

US 41 from Tower Road to Connerton Road

* This project will widen US 41 from two lanes to a four-lane devided roadway, construct a 12 foot multi-use path on the east side of the roadway, and replace the traffic signals at Gator Lane/Widerness Lake Blvd. and Roaches run/Pleasant Plains Pkwy with new hurricane resistant poles and signals.
* Projected start date:  August 2009
* Estimated completion:  Spring 2011
* Contractor:  R.E. Purcell

SR 39 from Bay Ave. to Gall Blvd.

* This project primarily consists of resurfacing SR 39 between Bay Ave and Gall Blvd and replacing the bridge over the Hillsborough River.  In addition an emergency signal will be installed at Bay Ave for the fire station.
* Projected complete date:  July 2009
* Estimated completion:  Fall 2010
* Contractor:  Cone & Graham

US 98 from CR 54 to US 301

* This project will resurface the roadway.
* Project start date:  March 2009
* Estimated completion:  Late 2009
* Constrctor:  APAC Southeast

I-75 from south of SR 56 to north of CR 54

* The Florida Dept. of Transportation (FDOT) contractor is improving the interchange at I-75 and County Road 54 to accommodate the future widening of SR 54 by Pasco County and to prepare for the future widening of I-75 to six lanes.  The project includes the complete removal and replacement of the existing bridges at CR 54, the resurfacing of I-75 from south of State Road 56 to north of CR 54, and the widening of entrance and exit ramps at CR 54.  It also will include the construction of retention ponds, mitigation areas and storm drainage.

* Estimated completion:  Fall 2010
* Contractor:  Lane Construction Corp., Inc.

Transit - Scheduled Bus Service 

Public transportation services are provided by the Pasco County Board of County Commissioners through Pasco County Public Transportation (PCPT).

Fixed-route transit buses operate throughout West Pasco, Dade City and Zephyrhills. This service is your key to mobility! Because of the large number of destinations, wide area of coverage, and extended hours of service, you can use it for all your daily travel needs, including:

  • Commuting back and forth to work
  • Making your medical appointments
  • Recreation
  • Shopping
  • And many other uses!
