Pasco EDC Hosts A Workshop On “How to Start a Business”

 February 13, 2012

Pasco County, Florida — Pasco Economic Development Council, Inc. is hosting a workshop on “How to Start a New Business”, Friday, February 24 from 8:30am to 10:00am. This workshop led by Carol Hendrix of USF’s Small Business Development Center will cover business basics, getting startup assistance, and business plans.

Many people shy away from starting a new business when times are tough. Most think it is better to save money and wait things out. However, now is the perfect time to start a business due to less competition, available talent, and plenty of room to grow.

“Each year small businesses begin and create some jobs but half of them fail within the first few years,” said John Hagen, Pasco EDC President/CEO. “Starting a business requires a tremendous amount of planning, a strong knowledge of local and regional guidelines, defined target markets, a source of financial options and much more.”

Hagen added that Pasco EDC wants to see Pasco County small businesses succeed and believes they can in this economy. He says, “This workshop can help local entrepreneurs get started in the right direction.”

The workshop will be held at Pasco EDC (16506 Pointe Village Dr., Lutz, FL). There is a $5 charge for a light breakfast. Reservations can be made online at www.pascoedc.com/events or by calling 888-60-PASCO.
